Scripts For Your Website logo

If you want detailed information on what this website is about, check out our Home Page. In a nutshell, we provide you with pre-tested, easy-to-use scripts for your website and plugins for your blog.

Although this website is set up in blog format, we do not add posts on a regular basis. We limit our scripts to those which have been thoroughly pre-tested.

Let’s get this out of the way first: FeedBurner is neither a script nor a plugin. But it is usually accessed with a plugin, and it uses its scripts to provide a whole shopping list of services for you to choose from.

If you have a webpage or a post that uses pictures, you may want to exhibit them without making your page look crowded. If you don’t want to use flash ( which is too “flashy” for some tastes ), there are several standard methods of doing this:

As you can see, each of the standard methods for showing pictures has its disadvantages. Read more …

There are lots of plugins that will add buttons to your blog so visitors can share your content on various social sites. I have been using Add This for years on most of my blogs, and it keeps getting both better and worse. There are many tools to choose from, and you can pick the ones you think are best for your own website.

Add This has 25 tools that you can use to get more traffic to your blog: 10 Share Tools, 5 Follow Tools, 8 Recommeded Content tools, and 2 Conversion Tools. 14 of these tools are free. The one that I have always used is the Sharing Buttons tool.

As you can see on my blog, I use 5 buttons that are lined up horizontally. The buttons come in three sizes, and can even show share counts if you like. But the thing I like most about them is that they automatically show visitors buttons for the social sites that they use most frequently. The last button opens a small popup where you will find up to 290 other sites that are available, such as Oyyla – if you happen to speak Turkish! Read more …

Yoast SEO is absolutely the best free SEO plugin that there is for WordPress. It is equally as good as ( and in some respects better than ) the most popular paid plugin. It includes modules in which you can set everything from page titles and meta tags to what you want to include in your XML Sitemap.

There are two main sections to this plugin:

  1. Global settings for the blog ( titles, metas, social, sitemaps, rss, … ) where you can set a template as a default, and it will apply to every post, unless overridden by:

  2. Local settings for each post

The three most important features – that make WPSEO by Yoast a real standout: Read more …
